Smart Car

So Eric got a new job about a month ago, managing the Smart Car dealership that is part of the Mercedes-Benz store where he was originally working. He is again in a management position which is where he loves to be and really shines at his job. Anywho, I had not mentioned it previously as I wanted to attach a photo so y'all would know what a Smart car was... well here ya go this is one of them, Eric brought it home for lunch today and I got to take it around the block for a spin!! Too bad it cannot hold a car seat, because it is a cool LITTLE car!!

The Smart car was originally designed by Swatch watches & Mercedes-Benz, SMART stands for Swatch Mercedes art. To put it's size into perspective, it is about 1/2 of the size of my Jeep Liberty and you can park 3 of them the "wrong way" in a parallel parking spot where just one car would normally be able to get in & out of! Fun car if you don't have kids that are required to sit in the back seat.... yeah Eric, we are proud of you for your promotion!

Austin's chin is healing just fine, he has not even picked at the glue so all is well. He is back to normal, i.e. being a picky eater and attempting to exercise his independence!!

21 months, 5 days

We made it 21 months and 5 days without a trip to the ER, but that streak ended last night - AC fell getting out of the bath tub and got a 3/4 inch long and about 1/4 inch deep cut on his chin. It all happened around 8:15/8:30 pm while Eric was helping him get out of the bath tub and I was at work. We finally got home from the ER, which is less than 1 block away, at 12:30 am - long couple of hours.....

Turns out the little dude is quite a trooper - he only really cried right when it happened and when they were "super-gluing" him back together - no stitches just glue and he even went to school today since he seemed back to normal this a.m.

We are SO glad he was not hurt that bad and as most people have said, this is probably just the first of a few trips to the ER that we, as parents, will experience.

I had a Drs. appointment today and all is well, we are in week 33 and she seems like she will be smaller than Austin (he weighed 8'8) and her heart beat is strong - she sure can KICK!! Seems like she is way more active than Austin.

I will keep ya posted on the little dude's chin, but seems like it will all be okay!!

Ducky Hats!!

One of Austin's favorite words & things are ducks, and we just so happen to have a few geese that "live" on the golf course across the street from our house, so he occasionally gets to see them. But today, with all of the rain we had, the ducks/geese came over to our side of the street and boy was he happy! Ducks! Momma! Ducks! Momma! Ducks! Ducks! So momma got the camera so we could put up some pictures for you guys to enjoy!

Stretching & then just posing...

Here is Austin modeling his new fishing hat that he hopes to use soon on Dad &/or Granddad & Lynn's boats - he has the hat he is just waiting for someone to invite him to go - hint hint hint

Here he is showing you how to tip your hat to the ladies!

And a blurry side profile just so that we can appreciate the size of his head & fat cheeks!! Isn't he a looker! hahaha

Funny Funny Kid!!

So we are officially home owners!!! Yippee Yippee - as Eric just said let the destruction begin!!! Anybody want to hang wallpaper - aaarrrgghhh the painter informed me that one room of wallpaper is just going to have to be a wallpaper room, luckily it is the formal dining room that won't be used a whole lot anyways....but still wanna hang wallpaper!?!?

On to the funny parts .... so last night, while bored, we decided to go to IKEA which is just across the highway from our house. While there, I saw this nifty wand cleaner to use to clean those hard to reach places, well lo and behold, Austin has decided he wants to clean for us - in these pictures you can see him cleaning a "spot" on the floor...

a "spot" on the coffee table/computer monitor storage area...

and my personal favorite as it is in need of a good cleaning before we move out... under the couch!! What a kid - for sure takes after Eric & not ME!!

He also has decided to show off new talents. At his school, they sit in low chairs to eat meals & do arts/crafts - well he has a habit of walking around the room at school with the chair strapped to his bottom, and well, seems he enjoys it no matter where he is, probably one of the funniest things I have seen him do in a LONG time!!

Above, he is begging for food from Eric in the kitchen, while strapped in....

a close up so you can get the full effect....

and again, my favorite asking for you to pick him up - yeah right!!

Have a great week - we should be updating with pictures of the painting soon....

Busy Bodies!!

I cannot even begin to describe how crazy it has been around here for the last 2 weeks, lots has been happening and not a lot has happened.

We have been scheduled to close on our house on 3 separate occasions and on all 3 occasions we have been notified the day of or day before or 2 hours before said closing time that we in fact will not be closing - now y'all who know Eric know him to be short for words, but the other morning when we were told for the 3rd time that the closing was to be postponed, Austin & I had to leave the apartment because Mr. B was one UNHAPPY camper and the attorney who called probably didn't know how to deal with Mr. B....now we are set to close on Monday - we hope.

This is an obvious expression of how happy Austin is about this whole deal...he in fact is having a temper tantrum because he had to come in from outside where he has been spending much of his time lately as it has been pretty here in ATL - we have been building "stick walls" out of fallen branches and playing in the mud since it too has been raining!! Yippee!!

It is the end of my 1st session of classes, so I am busy with grading & getting ready for the 2nd session - my university teaches 2 8-week sessions in one semester, different courses each session, so we have busy weeks in between sessions - but it is nice to get new students/topics every 8 weeks!

Since the closing was set, we have also been meeting with painters, carpet people, cabinet makers, gutter folks, etc, etc and that takes up a whole mess of time since the new house is about 45 minutes away from where we live now.

About a week ago, I went to a consignment sale to buy clothes for Austin & Ansley for this summer and got Austin a cute hat - he loves it despite the silly expression on his face - for some reason when he sees the camera this is his chosen pose!! We can't seem to get a better "posed" smile out of him, so we try to catch him when he does not see the camera coming!!

We have also decided to take Austin out of daycare starting in the Fall & have his current nanny (who watches him when I need to do work outside of Tuesdays & Thursdays) to watch him & Ansley for the next year - it will actually save us money & time as she lives closer to our new house that the daycare is - AND she totally supports my thoughts on no TV - so we hope it will work out well.

Anywho, that is all that is fit to write for now, hopefully we will have a nice weekend and can take some pictures outside - have a great Thursday!!
