3 Whole Years

We went for Austin's 3 year check up today, and basically he is a big kid.

Height: 39.5 inches (90%)
Weight: 34.8 lbs (77%)
Head Circumference: 52.5 cm (97%)
BMI: 35%

So....Dr. said to cut down on the amount of milk he drinks and give him more water and to be patient on the potty training......we are being patient but it sure would be nice to have one less kid in diapers!!!

He had to get one shot, and he was a good sport....cried a bit but got a lollipop to make it all better!!

Have a good weekend!

Shelved

We had so much fun in Florida for Austin's Birthday, Cousin Amanda's wedding & Father's Day that I did not take any pictures!!

We are back now, and Ansley has another UTI, only 3 weeks since the last one, so we go see the pediatric urologist on July 2nd....I'll keep you posted.

Austin goes in tomorrow for his 3 year checkup - maybe our Dr. can explain to me why he wanted to skip his earlier nap today and take it on the book shelf later this afternoon - any answers will be appreciated!!

Seriously does this look comfortable?

His friend Riley came over this morning for a play date, so maybe that just hyped him up and then wore him out ;)

aarrgghh!

What am I doing to you people?!? No posts again!!

So Ansley went to have her VCUG and Renal Scan done on Friday 6/12 and it was hard.....I have a picture of her IV but it is on my cell phone so I will have to figure out how to get it to here.

So the short story is that the tests showed that her urinary tract reflux is not any better (don't know if it is worse); it is rated on a scale of 1-5 and she is a 3.

For the renal scan they had to put a small amount of radioactive material into her body and then take pictures for 1 hour. Due to the need for her to be entirely still during the procedure, they had to put her to sleep. I have read of this procedure being done with the child awake and I can say that I was glad she was under for it.

The pediatrician called yesterday with the results and basically said that she is not getting any better, meaning she is not growing out of it, and that we need to go see a pediatric urologist. The reflux is only on her left side but it is causing scarring on her left kidney and her left kidney is now smaller than her right kidney, so we need to get it checked out by the urologist. So we have a call into the urologist and are waiting to schedule an appointment once they have all of the information they need.

We hope to hear something soon.....

On a good note, the urologist we are going to see has developed a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for urinary tract reflux that is successful in treating 90% of the cases where it is used, so we are optimistic.

We also know that Ansley will most likely be put on prophylactic antibiotics to help prevent future urinary tract infections.

Anywho, that is all the news that is fit to print....we are headed to Florida for a few days of rest & relaxation & Austin's 3rd birthday, and our cousin Amanda's wedding, and Father's Day......so we will be getting some sun!!

Have a great weekend and I promise beach pics!!!

Birthday pics part 2

Austin is excited for Ansley's birthday - he is on the side of the picture
Ansley loved the candle

"Yeah for me!"
These were from her Georgia birthday party

More tests

We just heard from the pediatrician that we need to take Ansley in for some more tests, so we will go to the Scottish Rite Hospital here in Atlanta next Friday and have a VCUG and a Renal Scan done to see what her urinary tract looks like and to have updated scans for when we go to see the pediatric urologist. Our pediatrician thinks that the urologist will put her on prophylactic antibiotics.

Ansley is responding to her latest round of antibiotics, so she is great. But these scans will probably be uncomfortable for her; we will try to cheer her up with Spam - kidding!!

Have a great weekend - I will put up some more pictures soon!!

1 year checkup

Well, we went for our one year check up today for Ansley, and guess what??? That's right, she has another UTI - for those of you keeping count (obviously impared due to my poor blogging skills of late) that is UTI #5. So, she is back on anti-biotics and we are set to go for a renal scan and to see a pediatric urologist.

Otherwise, her stats were:
Weight: 16.0 lbs (>3 %)
Height: 27.5 in. (7%)
Head Circumference: 46 cm (74%)
Okay seriously, what is up with my kids and their head size????? Blaming it on Eric......you would think she would weigh more given her ginormous head!!!! A friend of ours is a pediatric neurologist and he assures us that we should be proud, as he gets the other end of the spectrum and it "ain't pretty."

So....Ansley is VERY clingy right now, just wants to be held, but no, she wants to crawl, no walk, no crawl, no be held, no walk, no be held..........basically she is VERY fussy and confused!! She is not really walking but she can stand un-assisted and then take steps while someone holds her hands, etc....so it won't be long ;)

I do have pictures to post from her b-day party, but again having computer issues.......cry me a river!!

Have a good week!!
